Poor little toes
I went swing dancing tonight at Georgia Tech and had a good time. A couple of observations about myself from this event...
I love being friends with men who are sweet and who, not do my bidding, but do things I ask if they're reasonable. For example, tonight at the dance a couple girls came in - freshmen or sophomores - and just stood by the wall. They were both dressed very cute and you could tell a lot of effort went into that. They were not, however, dancing. One girl was classicaly beautiful, the other was cute and a little heavier set. The classical beauty didn't dance but did have several guys come up to her. After watching this for a little while, I asked my friend Dan to ask the other girl to dance and he did. Watching him dance with her - her whole face just lit up - made my heart glad. That I have a friend who would do that because I asked made me glad too. Interesting note, the girl's name was Beth... wonder if that's part of the reason I felt a connection to her.
I have this tendency to act as mother to men I meet that I don't know what to do with. When we first got to this dance we partnered up with the guys we came with but then the dance instructor called a switch. I danced with several different guys and each guy I'm pretty sure I called "sweetie" or "hun," and not in a "hey baby" way - in that, I'm older than you and am going to tell you it's okay if you can't lead. I don't do it with all men, just ones I'm not sure how to handle. I think it's a control thing but I can't be sure. I should ask my expert friends...

Never underestimate the healing powers of a bath
Especially if there are bath oils, candles, and some Sarah McLachlan playing in the background.
Birthday week was wonderful. Some may say a little too wonderful, but I'm not one of those. Fanatastic friends who love you and treat you like a queen - I mean, really, what can be wrong with that? (cue wrong with that). One thing that was unexpectedly nice is that I didn't feel old and I think that's mainly due to the fact that when folks asked how old I was and I told them, most were surprised at how young that age is.
I've been a little more than stressed, the whole test looming on the horizon, the one that determines my entire future. Probably haven't been the funnest person to be around, but I hope by Friday afternoon that will all change.
Now I need to decide what to eat for dinner... a very tough decision and an important one. Hmmm. Must go process.

Happy Birthday Week/Month/Etc to Me Indeed!
I drew a couple strange looks on the quad this morning as I ran to class. It was probably because I was laughing hysterically at a message from Kates I was listening to on my phone. She reminded me that it's my birthday week and while I've been doing things all week, I haven't been quite in birthday mode.
Well, no more! Going out tonight with the boys (and Kimberly, who is not a boy) and it's birthday time! And tomorrow is cake in the afternoon and cake in the evening.
Chapel was wonderful today (shout out to a certain lurker :-P) and it reminded me that yes, even in the midst of craziness - no, especially in the midst of craziness - we should eat, drink, and be merry. So, that's what I'm off to do.
Yay for being a quarter of a century (almost)!

the horror, the horror
So here's the background information:
I'm lazy.
My batteries are dying in my remote so I can press only so many buttons in so much time.
My tv has a function that tells you what show is coming up and a little synopsis.
So here's the story:
I click over to the WB to see if Everwood is new. 7th heaven happens to be on at the moment. After clicking over to the WB, the remote stops working. I'm stuck on 7th heaven. I can't make it change (again, from my chair).
I've seen this show before, several times in fact thanks to a certain friend who liked to watch and make fun of it. Oh how I wish she were here. It hurts so so bad and only humor can make it better. Both of the older girls apparently have babies, there are 2 guys who I have no idea how they connect to the family, and the twins are still little balls of evil.
The ep centered around Ruthie, the youngest girl, and her first date. Since it's 7th heaven, the whole family has to get involved and of course the Satanic twins want to come along and even get all dressed up in little suits (tie included) all on their own. HORRIBLE.
The very end of the episode has Rutie come in from a date, turn on the music "Kiss Me," start take off her jacket, and twirl around her room. I swear, for a second, I forgot what show I was watching and thought she was going to start touching herself, especially when she fell on the bed with this weird grin.
I think the point of this story is my utter agony. Yep, that's it. I suffered so I have to share.

still it's sunday morning...
I miss you the most.
Mmmm. Good new Ani cd. What a happy thing.
I love working in the church - which is good considering that's what I'm gunna be doing for a long time to come. The liturgy today was so well written, it was a treat for my tongue to say.
Went to dinner with John last night - Murphy's no less - and had a great meal. Only problem was there was a cute guy who was clearly being extra flirty when I wasn't next to John for a moment while we waited for a table. I couldn't exactly flirt fully back because I was with another guy. Now, obviously, I wasn't "with" John, but cute flirty boy didn't know that when he came up. Tehee. It's very hard to pick up guys when you're out with the guys... just a word for the wise!

Let it never be said your anal retentive attention to detail never yielded positive results
You can't be anal retentive if you don't have an anus.
Enjoying a viewing of Dogma at the moment. Really must say these are my favorite Matt Damon and Ben Afflex performances. And this is a much better option than watching what's on tv at the moment. Does the commander and chief really have to take over all the stations I have? And why during Alias time? That's not very polite.
The semester as just started and it's already crazy. Sigh. Knew this would happen - hence part of the reasoning for a calm January - but didn't think it would be quite so soon.
Must start making birthday plans too. The Buxtons invited me to celebrate with Ken but sadly I have class on his b-day. Sniff. There will, however, be some Murphy's and possibly some craziness with the boys. Of course, as we all know, I've got a month to milk so I'll have plenty of time to fit in some fun. Kinda sucks my birthday month includes the Ords... Damn, damn, damn...
